Kick the Squatter Out
This month, I wanted to share a part of the message I taught at a Women’s Conference. Our identity as God’s children is what gives us purpose to fulfill the destiny He created us each for. As it says in 1 Corinthians 12:12, “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.” We each have a role to play. Even when we may believe we have no purpose, God’s word reminds us that we do. It is time for all of us as His church to transition into our purpose.
As I was praying, the Holy Spirit placed the word “squatters” in my mind. I thought, “Squatters?” God what are you trying to say?” It isn’t so often that you would think of such a word having anything to do with purpose! So He led me to look up the squatter laws in my state of North Carolina. In this state, the law for those who squat in unclaimed properties is called the Doctrine of Adverse Possession. This doctrine allows a squatter to openly possess a title that is not claimed. Squatters must do so openly for 20 years (by occupying that property) before they can file for a title to own the property they are in. If there is a "color claim" meaning the squatters may "believe" they own rights to the property that opportunity decreases from 20 years to 7 to file for a title to own. Even state owned properties can be subject to adverse possession
God then began to reveal was He was desires His people to know. The biggest squatter in the church has been Satan! He knows that he has no rights to our territory. But he knows that if we don't lay claim to it by our rightful inheritance as children of God, that he will own that territory. This is what he has done and continues to do. He squats because we either don't know our territory, or we don't lay claim to it. This is how darkness spreads! It squats where we don't step in and possess it. It's time to kick the squatter out and possess the land that our Father has given us authority over! This includes our purpose!!!!
In Matthew 4, Satan tempts Jesus. Even as Satan offered him the opportunity to align with him, Jesus stood upon the Word of God! Jesus knew His identity was in the Father, not in what Satan offered. When sin entered this world, identity rooted in relationship with the Father was lost. This loss allowed Satan to squat where we, as children of God were given dominion. But by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, dominion and identity was restored! Satan was defeated!
A truth that we each must face is this: If we have no identity, we cannot transition into our purpose! Our enemy knows whether we know our identity or not. If we don’t know who we are, Satan doesn’t technically need stop us from walking into our purpose, because we do that ourselves. It is Hosea 4:6 that reminds us that a lack of knowledge equals destruction! But it is Ephesians 1:11 that defeats the lies of the enemy when it says, “Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.” This is where our identity is rooted! This is who we are! This is who God says we are!
So how do we move from Identity to Purpose? What does that look like in our day to day life? Here are a few ways to move forward into what God is calling you to:
1. Walk Through THE DOOR. When we fully accept that our identity is in Christ, then we are able to accept the inheritance that Christ died to give us. We are able to walk from being an orphan in religion to a Daughter in relationship.
2. CLOSE THE DOOR to past fears and walk into our NOW purpose. No more allowing the squatters of darkness to offer you what is yours by inheritance! God has a purpose for you NOW. It isn’t lost or hidden.
3. STAND UPON THE TRUTH. Even when you don’t feel like it, you are still who God says you are. We are the Daughters who have been given the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven as it says in Matthew 16:19.
Will you step through the door of inheritance today? To see yourself the way God sees you? To walk in the purpose and destiny that He called you to? To transition from where you are, to where He has called you to? I challenge you to step into the NOW purpose that God has called you to...
